Ankle Dislocation: should ED team reduce it?

Yesterday we got one patient, motorvehicle accident. The ankle look deform, probably fracture. Several X-ray was done.

Ankle X ray come back and shocked me. A little excited too. Its fracture dislocation of right ankle. Otherwise, neurovascular was intact.

Should ED team reduce it?

We should devide any dislocation into

  • Non complicated
  • Complicated (which is fracture)

Non complicated dislocation should be reduce by ED team.

While complicated/frcature dislocation should be reduce by orthopedic surgeon. Unless there is vascular compromise.
